What was Issac "Dr. Size" Nesser's arm training routine?
Isaac Nesser is called Dr. Size because he is in the Guinness Book of World Records as the man with the largest chest at 74 inches and arms of 29 inches. Although he is not a giant standing at 6 foot and weighing 362lbs he can bench-press with the best in the world.
You are probably thinking that Isaac Nesser is full of steroids because he can bench-press over 820 lbs and barbell curl with 315 lbs for 5 reps without cheating. His demonstrations of strength like lifting and carrying a 700 pound truck engine or carrying a 100 gallon drum filled with gas make one think it must be steroids that have made him that strong.
But Isaac has never taken drugs and says that taking any form of artificial stimulant to increase strength is just cheating. He feels strongly about not taking any steroids and in his own words it is the same as taking Cocaine or Heroin because it is simply a copout.
The irony is that with his incredible genetic strength he already has he tells us that he honestly believes that even if he had taken steroids it would not have helped. He explains that the connective tissue strength needed to do these feats of strength will never come from just taking steroids, you need to train heavy to get strong it is as simple as that.
He says that the strength he has now might have come quicker if he was using steroids but that does not mean the strength will stay with him as soon as he stops taking whatever he used to get strong. He explains that his strength comes from years of hard workouts that stress his body to the max.
When he was asked why he has never competed in the World's Strongest Man competition he explains that he has been asked more than once to compete but refuses because he says that competition is all associated with steroid uses to everyone else.
He said that if the WSM tested for steroids before or after the event he would definitely win if he did not get injured. Isaac explains that his strength is not just good genetics and good nutrition it is a LOT of hard training. He says he trains 4 to 6 hours every day and never misses a workout for any reason.
Isaac does not train one body-part a day like one would think, he explains that after training for 30 years has built up his tolerance for stress and he trains the same body-part for 8 to 10 days in a row before taking a 2 or 3 day rest to rest and recuperate.
